If you’ve been dreaming of a career as a commercial pilot, our Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) course is for you. This course is a great way to begin your aviation career. Within 85 weeks you’ll go from being an aviation novice to a commercial pilot. The course is designed to provide you with all technical and nontechnical skills you will need to achieve your Commercial Pilot Licence with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
Commercial pilots may fly for hire or reward and are authorised to act as pilot in command for aircraft only requiring one pilot, or as co-pilot for aircraft requiring two pilots.
The diploma qualification, together with the CPL, provide you with the qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience to operate as a commercial pilot and to seek initial employment in various roles

This is an integrated training course that combines ground theory with practical flight training. It is designed to be complete in 85 weeks, comprising 20 hours face-to-face learning per week. The course is delivered in 4 modules with the theory and practical training conducted in parallel. This course encompasses a total 170 hours of flying. All practical units of this course are delivered one-to-one at our campus located at on Camden Airport in Sydney’s Macarthur region.

Phase 1 – First Solo
In this module you will learn the essential flying skills required to achieve solo flight. To maintain a measure of ground and flight integration, you must pass theory examinations to progress through this module.
Phase 2 – Recreational Pilot Licence
In this module you will achieve your Recreational Pilot Licence (also known as an RPL). To maintain a measure of ground and flight integration, you must pass theory examinations to progress through this module. In addition to flying, this module consists of class- room-based theory lessons, flight briefings and self-study.
Exams
- First Area solo exam (Written examination 70% pass)
- CASA Recreational Pilot Licence Flight Test
- AEL Aviation English language proficiency
Phase 3 – PPL Assessment
In this module you will learn to both fly and navigate to the standard of a Private Pilot Licence (also known as a PPL). To maintain a measure of ground and flight integration, you must pass theory examinations to progress through this module.
In addition to flying, this module consists of class- room-based theory lessons, flight briefings and self-study.

- CNAV CPL- Navigation (Written examination 70% pass)
- CMET CPL- Meteorology (Written examination 70% pass)
- CHUF CPL- Human Factors (Written examination 70% pass)
Phase 4 – Commercial Pilot Licence and Advanced Training
In the final module of training you will hone your skills and learn advanced flying skills. On successful completion of this module you will achieve your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). To maintain a measure of ground and flight integration, you must pass theory examinations to progress this module.
During this period the student will attend a classrooms, briefings and self-study sessions.
Altocap Flight School does not guarantee a successful education assessment to a learner undertaking this course.

- CADA CPL – Aerodynamics – Aeroplane (Written examination 70% pass)
- CYSA CPL – Aircraft General Knowledge Aeroplane (Written examination 70% pass)
- CFPA CPL – Operation, Performance and Planning – Aeroplane (Written examination 70% pass)
- CASA Commercial Pilot Licence Test Flight
On successful completion of the full course, students will attain:
- an AVI50222 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) – a nationally recognised qualification issued by Altocap Flight School as Registered Training Organisation; and
- a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) issued by CASA.
